Update: 12-15-08
Mom was discharged from Grant this afternoon and is at home. She'll be wearing a neck brace for about 3 months and has orders of no bending, lifting, or twisting. The artery abnormality is treatable with daily aspirin & follow-up visits to a specialist. Given her situation, she is doing quite well!

Kim's mom, Lovie, was hit Friday evening, Dec. 12 in front of Aunt Berchie's, which is next door to our house. We were all backing out of the drive in separate vehicles to carpool over to Mansfield for our annual Ladies’ Christmas get-together. A driver was headed toward State Route 98 when Mom and Uncle Jim were waiting on the road with their hazard lights on. She was hit, and then Mom hit Uncle Jim, but he’s doing fine.
Mom was taken to Marion General and then to Grant, which is a Level 1 Trauma Center. She's handling everything exceptionally well. Her C7, which is in the neck, is fractured. She had an MRI yesterday. The neurologist will read the MRI today and know more about how to treat her. They also found some type of abnormality with an artery near the C7 and will have another specialist decide the best course of treatment for this. She's off the backboard and in a hospital bed. They also need to test how she does today with sitting upright or even standing. The doctors want to know if she can keep her spine in alignment.
Please join us in prayer:
We join together to pray for Lovie, knowing that she is a child of God. We see her as God sees her: healthy, strong, and whole in mind, body, and soul. We affirm God’s healing, revitalizing presence in her life. The power of God sustains and blesses Lovie with perfect health. God is her peace and comfort. Amen.
