Milk Donation

Today I donated 254 ounces of "liquid gold" to the Mother's Milk Bank of Ohio, housed at the Select Specialty Hospital in Victorian Village. Milk is provided to critically ill premature babies, usually before their mothers are producing their own milk. There are currently eight adults in Ohio, all cancer patients, who receive milk as part of their treatment. The bank pasteurizes milk on site and fulfills orders from hospitals all over Ohio. To be a donor, I completed a phone interview, paperwork and blood work. My doctor and Winnie's pediatrician also gave approvals. Maybe in a couple of months, I'll have a little more to share from the freezer.
